Once on a kingdom of Seri Bodhisatta Lord Buddha Jataka dealt in pots and pans and called 'the Serivan'.In company of another dealer in the same wares,a greedy fellow who was also known as 'the Serivan', he came across the river Telavaha and entered the city of Andhpura.
There lived a poor family in the city.Once they had rich merchant,but the time of our story they have lost all the sons, brothers and all their wealth.The sole survivors were a girl and her grandmother.The greedy hawker reached their house .The old lady showed him a bowl and said him to give something exchange of the bowl.The hawker took the bowl in his hands and confirmed himself scratching a line on the bowl and knew for certain that it was a gold.But he wanted to take bowl without giving anything to them .So he threw the bowl on the ground and rose from his seat telling worthless.After some time the Bodhisatta reached their crying" Water pots to sell".He met the old grandmother and she said the the first hawker had thrown the bowl on the ground.She said she had nothing else.She showed him the bowl .He delighted and said to the old lady ,"Mother ,this bowl is worth a hundred thousand pieces;I have not its value with me."
Old lady said ,The first hawker had said it had not worth .It must have the efficiency of your good ness which has turned the bowl in to gold.Take it and give something ."Bodhisatta gave her 500 pieces of money and stock as much .He departed .After some time first greedy hawker again reached hoping to get bowl in free.But when old lady said that she gave to another hawker and received a lot greedy fellow deeply depressed and tore of his clothes ,started shouting.He regreted his loss so much that became like a mad.Through the hatred he contracted against Boddhisatta,he perished then and there.
The Bodhisatta after a life spent in charity and other good works,passed away to fare according to his deserts.This Lord Buddha Jataka Story tells us about result of goodness.
