  Once on the time in the kingdom of Magadha the king was reigning in the Rajgaha. When the crops were grown , it was a great danger for the deer. So save themselves they used to go the the forest . Having attached with the love of a doe someone  living near village, a stag did not returned home with his herd. Doe suggested her to return as the villagers are too dangerous but to accompanied her he did not return.

At that time Lord Buddha Jataka was born as a tree sprite (fairy) in the forest residing on a tree passing by. When he did not see the stag returning with his herd,  he preached about the harm of passion and lust.

He said due to the lust of his towards the  doe  stag will die. He teaches to leave passion and lust, deep attachment to material things; but to live a pious life having eight folds in a medium way.
