Lord Buddha Jataka Stories
Once Lord Buddha took birth as a prince naming Mahimsasa, elder son of the king of Benares (Kasi).When he was grown up about to run queen again gave birth another prince whose name was Moon. But after some time queen died, and king married again.She also gave birth another prince which was named Sun.She was granted a boon by the king in the joy of son which she decided to demand later.Lord Buddha Jataka Story proceeds further.
One day second queen demanded boon as her son Sun would become the next king.King rejected this, and thinking about any harm to his two elder prince by the queen he told his both elder prince to go forest and come after his death.When both prince were going to forest, third son Sun also said to go with them.
They reached to the region of Himalaya .On the way Lord Buddha Jataka, Boddhisatta Mahimsasa sat aside of road under a tree.They were thirsty, so Lord Buddha Jataka, Mahimsasa said to younger prince to go to the pond to bathe and drink water, and bring some water in lotus plant leaves returning time.
When he reached the pond ,there was a water sprite,who asked him a question about God like person. He replied monster, 'Moon and Sun". Monster drowned him in to the water.Lord Buddha Jataka, Mahimsasa sent Moon second brother to see Sun his youngest brother having being late. He also encountered with monster. Monster asked him same question which he replied, "Four quarter of heaven".Monster drowned him also into the pond.After that Lord Buddha Jataka, Boddisattta came to him and monster repeated his question again.But Boddhisatta satisfied him saying, "Those are godlike which are 'good having white soul and free from sin".Monster water sprite became happy and asked to save one his brother. Mahimsasa, Lord Buddha Jataka having good virtues asked life of youngest brother.Water sprite surprised not preferred second brother in place of third brother.He gave life of his both brothers.This Lord Buddha Jataka Story tells us about the importance of goodness.
