Lord Buddha Jataka Stories
Once upon a time Lord Buddha took birth as a merchant in the reign of king Brahamdatta in Benares city of Kasi .When they (Lord Buddha Jataka) grew up he used to trade with 500 carts.once they have to face a heavy sandy wilderness sixty leagues across.During daytime they used to range their carts in circle and during night time they used to move forward.Desert pilot who had knowledge of stars used to show them way.
One day when he was only a few miles away from his destination,he thought"to-night we will out of this desert."So they had had their supper and thrown away water and wood.But due to lack of sleep he missed and carts kept wandering in wrong way.They reached the same place ,where they started at night.They had nothing water and wood.
Then Boddhisatta came forward and told abut kussa-grass.He thought that kusa-grass sure had underneath having water.He ordered to dig at the spot.Sixty cubits down they dug till at that depth spade struck on a rock ,and everybody lost heart.But the Boddhisatta ,feeling sure that there must be water under that rock,descended in to the whole and took his stand upon the rock.He heard sound of water under the rock.He came out and said boy to,"My boy if you give in ,we shall perish.So take heart and courage.Go down and strike the rock."Others had lost the hope but the boy go inside and obeying his master Boddhisatta he struck the rock.The rock which had dammed the streams ,split asunder and fell in.Up rose the water in the whole till it was as high as palm tree.;and every body drank and bathed.The Boddhisatta too after a life spent in charity and other good works likewise to fare according to his deserts.
This Lord Buddha Jataka Story tells us that if we never give up,we can achieve our goal one day sure.
